Full Moon Hike and Option to Camp with Jeff and Debra Rezeli

09/30/2023 07:00 PM - 09:30 PM ET

Description

Join 2018 MST completers Jeff and Debra Rezeli for a memorable full moon hike along Falls Lake, as they celebrate the MST's 46th birthday month and National Public Lands Day. This enchanting hike will take place on September 30, 2023, starting at 7pm. The location for this adventure is MST Segment 10 - Shinleaf area, known for its scenic beauty and diverse terrain.

The hike covers a distance of approximately 5.5 miles, taking participants on an out-and-back journey with the highlight being the moonrise at the turnaround point. To ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment, it is essential to come prepared with a light or headlamp due to the night conditions. Additionally, please note that no pets are allowed on this hike given the potential challenges posed by the darkness.

Parking will be available at the Shinleaf campground (13708 New Light Rd., Wake Forest), providing convenient access to the starting point of the hike. The trail promises a moderate level of difficulty, owing to the terrain and nighttime conditions. Participants can expect to immerse themselves in nature's tranquility while experiencing the thrill of hiking under the light of the full moon.

As a special option, Jeff and Debra have reserved a group campsite for those who wish to extend their outdoor adventure. Camping after the hike is entirely optional but offers the chance to unwind, stargaze, and bond with fellow nature enthusiasts. Campers, please bring all of your own food and camping supplies. If you are interested in camping, you are welcome to set up anytime on Saturday prior to the hike but please contact Debra directly at ddrezeli@gmail.com to reserve your spot.  There is a maximum of 24 for this hike so early registration is encouraged!

If you are hiking, please register. If you are hiking AND camping, please register AND email Debra.
